W211 Gear Shift Problem

Hi

I have just purchased a new `Schatz` Wood/ Chrome Manual gear shift, but my Mercedes UK dealer says that he cannot install it and that the shaft needs to be cut and or modified and that the gaiter will also have to be changed. I have contacted Schats and they insist that they sell this shift and others for or all Manual and Auto boxes with no modification.

Is anybody aware of any changes to the gear boxes on a Marcedes 2004 6- speed manual grear boxes and or any reason why this should be a problem on my new car?

W211 6 speed manual ????

Are you mad ????

Have you tried fitting it yourself?

Hi,

Thanks for the advise, I prefere a Manual to Auto.

Fitted it in 45 mins looks great, so much for the Dealer Mercedes fitters!

All the best

;)

Cool! Glad it went ok. Its pretty easy to remove the trim on the W211.

It was a tough decision for me ordering the Auto, but know I have it I love it :)

I know some prefer manuals (me included !), but try selling a W211 without auto. That will be when the nightmare starts !!

Any chance of some pickies of your car? sounds great :D

Hi Fabio - stop messing about and get your camera out, we need to see this beauty:D

That performance increase is impressive, would love to hear more details of it, I' like to get some more out of my 200K but yours sounds like the dealer might notice that you've played with it:D

Cheers
OG
