Hi
I am getting conflicting information in regards to gearbox oil capacity. . Mb are saying 6 litres for the 7 speed auto. Garage are telling me 7 litres. I am assuming it depends on if torque converter is drained or not ?
Any advice

Thanks

I did mine last year. Om642 v6 engine. I drained torque converter but did not drain the cooler pipes or cooler. It took 7.5 litres.

Just had my 7G+ gearbox oil changed today. 7 litres.

9 litres including the torque converter.

I'm curious at the mileage you're all changing the transmission oil at, as I remember there was no recommended service interval in the manual. I may have missed it if there is one.. And what sort of money do garages charge for this service?

MB seemed to change the recommended service intervals.

My car had one recorded by MB at 72000 miles and I had it changed by PCS of Horndean (excellent service!) at around 120,000 miles in 2018. At the time a full drain of TC etc was £200 including parts, labour and VAT

My rule of thumb is around 50k or 5 years.

Many thanks for that!
I had a look through the invoices that came with the car (from the previous owner), and it looks like the transmission service was done around 102,000 miles and was done at Autofit Sussex Ltd for £212 incl. parts, labour and VAT. Yesterday I inquired with VRS Coventry who are local to me and was quoted £325 all in, and around last summer inquired with one of the MB specialists in the area and was quoted ~£600... Seems like it varies quite a bit, however, the kit itself on ECP is ~£54 and with all their discount codes might be able to get it for even cheaper! Current mileage is just over 130k so will start looking around again nearer to 150k :)
