When you press the Keyless unlock button on a W211 the door pops or pushes itself open.

I've never thought of this but I have no idea what this feature is called and if it is on all the W211 that have Keyless ?

Only asking as I've just noticed it works on all doors except the drivers door on the E55.

The feature is intermittent on my car. It doesn’t really bothers me as I pull the door handle and activate the unlock switch at the same time.

Don’t know what the feature is called. Does it list anything in STAR?

No its not soft close, soft close is when you close the door and a motor pulls the door tight shut for the last couple of cms, the buttons on the W211 E55s etc are part of the keyless go and entry:)

Thanks folks, not soft close, I'm still not sure and various internet searches have not come up with anything.

Door poppers are used when the door handles are 'shaved', it's the only way to open the door. But I've never heard of a standard Merc having factory fitted door poppers, why would they, one has the door handle?

No idea, I just know if I press the open button, the doors pushes itself open so you do not have to pull the handle to release.

It's quite a neat feature, I also like the bootlid closing itself then pulling itself down.

Yes, I had the self-close boot lid on my CLS55 but defo not the door popping open, though maybe that is to do with the frameless door glass on the CLS
Have you checked the datacard?

Another thought, if the door pushes itself open on pressing the unlock button does it the pull itself shut should none of the doors be fully opened? The usual automatic re-lock feature should one unlock but not open the doors.

Datacard was my first thought, just shows Keyless, nothing else.

No they do not pull close, just the opening feature.

Where's Olly when you need him? ;)

Thats exactly what you have got Patrick! Keyless door opening nothing more nothing less, it allows you to open and close a locked car by the buttons instead of using the key fob as long as you have the key within proximity of the car,

So if the Door Pop on Pressing the Unlock Button, what happens when you press the Lock Button?:dk:

All that happens you press the unlock button and it unlocks! and if you then press the lock button it locks again simples, i think people are getting confused hear with door " poppers" there is nothing in the locking mechanism which pushes the door open,

It's the popping open bit I'm thinking of, this happens on 3 of the 4 doors, must be some sort of motor on these that energises and opens the door for you.

Reason I was asking is I was trying to find out if it should be the same on the drivers door, I'm guessing not from the above though. I could look at the parts manual and see what the difference is between the doors.

There is but, 3 of the doors push themselves open, only one that does not is the drivers.
