W211 Luggage Cover Rattle

My W211 estate has the luggage cover that "slots" into brackets in the back seats and as it's a "metal on metal" connection it tends to rattle quite a lot. It's not really noticeable when I'm on a motorway run but anything else gets quite annoying.

I've tried a few "products" on the bracket and to date the best option has been candle wax but that only tends to remedy the problem for a couple of weeks.

Does anyone have any ideas on what I can use to stop this annoying rattle for months rather than weeks?

Cheers for now

Russell

ALL luggage covers are a PITA!

After many years of irritation, I formed a policy to take them off the car the day I buy it, then replace it the day I sold it.

No other fix works as well.....

That's always an option but annoyingly I find the luggage cover quite useful so I'll keep looking for something that will last longer than a few weeks......

Thin plastic or even wooden wedges knocked into the gap between the cassette and the seat works great. Placed near the metal slots.

Thanks, I've tried folded cardboard but some wooden wedges might be a better option, although I'm still hoping for someone to suggest a "magic" grease or similar that can be applied to the brackets every 6 months or so........??

Are you sure it's the load cover and not the seat retaining brackets? There's been posts on here in the past regarding them rattling.

I'm fairly sure as I've removed it and the "rattle" goes away. I've seen the other posts about the seat retaining bracket and don't think that's the problem here. Even with someone sitting in the rear seat (near side) and the load cover attached I'm getting the annoying rattle.

Putting some candle wax on the brackets did stop the noise for a couple of weeks, I've also tried some copper grease but that didn't seem to work at all.
