W211 option 616 ACTIVE CURVELIGHT Option

So my car shows option 616 BI-XENON HEADLICHT W.ACTIVE CURVELIGHT on data card but I've no idea if that means the lights move, if the fogs come on the side I'm turning or if I would never notice. Its safe to say I've yet to notice so either I don't have the option or its not working. Its possible a previous owner swapped them out like they did the AMG wheels and stowage tank

Is there an easy way to tell from looking at the lights or something that I have the option or not ?

It means the dipped beam lamps move horizontally in response to steering input. Very subtle. It can be deactivated via STAR and I discovered mine had been for some reason. Needs careful setting up, which my dealership did FOC.

ok I'll take a look when my MUXcomes back then. Any visible difference in the lights themselves that I should look out for ?

when you drive down a curvy road, you will see the lights move side to side with the steering. good little option... the lights are expensive units.. ask how i know lol

Show me a picture of both your headlights. I can tell you straight away whether the optional headlights are installed or have been replaced with stand xenon headlights.

There is a physical difference.

Here's the Active curve lamps from my CLS55

I renewed both when one of the motors failed and both had become very opaque. As mentioned, not cheap!

May be the active CLS headlight is harder to source on eBay.

Now and again the odd active W211 headlight pops up. When my driver's side failed I found one on eBay for £45 (some sellers just don't know what they are selling )

The optional headlight is installed, if the driver's side looks the same then you have a set.

The non-active curve headlights, the projector stick out a lot, whereas, these are more flush with the housing.

Yup same on both sides. That's good news. I guess mine are turned off as they don't seem to move horizontally no matter how hard I look. I do have vertical as I see the beam move when I start the car.

It is quite subtle. When first activated and I drove at night it appeared I was over-steering. The impression only lasted a short time as I became accustomed to the effect

Go slow and turn left and right, you will see the beam move.

Think mine must have this as projectors look the same and I noticed it go up down left and right when switched on.

Not sure on the facelift headlights, as MB has made them to all look the same.

Question is whether or not you have the intelligent light system.
