Sorry if this has been asked before my head is fried trying to find an answer.

I picked up this morning a 03 e220 w211 with an audio 20 head unit with the unknown bonus of a multi changer that the dealer didn't know about as it was full of CDs. So far I have 2 issues with it first the FM radio is non existent. I have checked the aerial amplifier fuse that's fine, I'm not ready to start pulling her apart yet it to check for loose wires but will if needed. What is the next easy thing to check or is it likely to be spending a ton on parts?

By the way the other is trying to figure out the best (cheapest) way to get hands free with the steering wheel controls. In the mean time I'll probably fit a basic Bluetooth set I was going to fit to the weekend toy. But again my head is fried and this can wait till next year.

Depending on the wiring already installed, you have a choice of which bluetooth device to fit to enable hands free with steering wheel controls for calls only.

If you have the curly cable and phone cradle in the armrest as mine below, a Viseeo MBU-3000 does the job. Now discontinued, they are hard to get hold of but eBay does have them from time to time.

If you have the later UHI connector that came with later models a Viseeo MBU- 4. Again, not easy to aqquire but eBay again is your friend. Also look out for members here selling a unit.

Failing that, Comandonline have the answer although more expensive

I have nothing in the arm rest just the steering wheel controls and radio controls. This isn't as easy to do but I need hands free as I use the car for work and want a discrete system and using the oe set up would look better

Give Comand Online a call and see what your options are. They can also advise on your radio problem
The number is in the link above.
A Parrott maybe your cheapest option but without steering wheel controls.

I'm sure I read there was an adapter to use a parrot kit with wheel controls but their kits didn't get a great review.
Doubt they are much worse than the ancient Nokia ck-7w units I keep fitting - easy to install but use their own speaker and is my plan for tomorrow

Hi.
Regarding your non existent FM radio stations, and for that matter AM and LW,....does your key fob work o.k. for opening the doors? ....If not, then see my recent "Key Fob Not Working" Thread.
Unfortunately as you have just bought the car you would have not known when it did last work or what stopped working, so it could possibly be the head unit, which you can only really check by substitution. What did the dealer say about the radio not working ?

Steve

Keys work fine no issues

I've not spoken to the dealer as he is an hour's drive away if I need to take it back and he wasn't too clued up on mercedes anyway so thought try and see if its an easy job.
I've been looking at dab transmitters as I'm starting to think this is going to be a pain to sort plus there is a better choice in music on dab.

I take it the top few lines on the rear screen are the aerial and don't demist? Or is this related to the lack of FM?

The FM reception on my 08 Eclass was terrible. I put it down to the kids in back seats putting their feet on the screen and damaging the lines.
