Anyone replaced the gas struts on a W211 estate with powerlift tailgate. Removed to headlining and finally got the defective struts out, but struggling to fit the new ones. The ball that the body of the strut mounts on is practically inaccessible and my question is, any reason why not to unscrew the ball to lower it a bit? Seems like a Torx bit required, but it appears to be an odd size?
