Good afternoon all,

after some help. My MB pulls to the left when i let go the steering wheel and it is not in a straight position as it should be.
I am aware of road crown, tyre pressures, truck tracks and yes i heard all MB pull to the left story too. Checked components and they seem to be in good shape. Visited at least 5 different garages who claim they do wheel alignments but just wasted my time and money. Recently visited WIM - now Protyre - in Chesham where Paul checked and changed the settings to the best of his knowledge but the damn thing still doesn`t want to go straight. The car does drive better then before but still i don`t get the MB feeling

Could someone please advise me what the next step should be? Live in Cambridge but happy to travel to get this right :) I like the car but i`m at the end of my patience with it.

How much does it pull to the left?....as I'm sure you have been told all cars should pull down the camber to the left slightly if you left go of the wheel. But I take it that this is a more serious pull? If the geometry is OK then you need to look for what else might be putting more drag on the left side of the car. Miss-matched or differently worn tyres, brakes or even handbrake dragging etc.

hi Alfa, it pulls to left enough to annoy the hell out of me :) I am aware of all that. We swapped tyres all around, balanced them not long ago too. Everything you can think of i have done.

Hi , Can we assume that the steering wheel is on the straight ahead position when pulling to the left. Are all the track rods ends of equal length all round. Has your car always pulled to the left since you owned it or has it recently started pulling to the left left ?

Get whoever to lock the steering wheel straight then adjust the geometry. Sounds like the power steering is working against itself. It came out of the factory straight for a reason.

What mileage are you on and what suspension components have been changed ?

hi, yes we have just adjusted the track rod ends so now equal length both side. To be honest i can`t even remember when it started to pull this bad.

i would imagine something like this would pop up on diagnostics? Power steering fault or steering angle or something?

the only thing i`m unsure of the guy at WIM (now Protyre) installed them bolts or mention anything about them.

You need a proper shop with a 4 wheel alignment kit and an operator that knows what they are doing. Sounds like something is bent. Might have been badly kerbed or off road even.

Have you checked all the links on the rear axle, no good just tracking front end.

Alignment had been done a little while ago by WIM in Chesham (Now called Protyre) who meant to be 1 of the best i was told :) Paul there did compliment saying he can see i dodge potholes as the settings weren`t out much. I drive like a drunk trying to avoid potholes but it`s a tough job nowadays :) if police see me they would pull me over for a test i`m sure :) Also, the car was seen by a MB specialist but they didn`t find any fault when i asked them to check it over. Mind you they didn`t pick up the broken springs. Maybe the car had a crash before my ownership but can`t tell for sure as never met the previous owner. so it remains a mystery :)

Look all over the panels front and rear for any signs of damage especially around where suspension parts bolt on to.

Was the steering wheel locked straight on the last alignment, as i said earlier, if not don't go back to that place.

nothing visible, the bodywork looks okay. but i`ll ask my guy to check the rear too when i see him next.
