Hi all, for some reason my alarm goes off on the drive for no reason. Siren sounds for 30 secs. pauses then goes off again. Cannot stop it until I disconnect battery. Car is a 53 plt e320 Cdi saloon.
Battery is ok . Any ideas how to stop it and what the issue is as I cannot drive the damn thing until I fix it.

More than likely an alarm siren at fault,

Needs to go on a star diagnostic machine to test it and the new 1 will require programming aswell.

The star diag can pull up the last alarm activations but the most common is the battery in the siren failing causing the alarm to sound at random or just the lights will flash with no sound.

Most dealers keep them in stock, although a good Indy could sort it

+1 for the siren. Had exactly the same thing on our 53 plate CLK. Common issue. Not terribly expensive to fix but a bit fiddly. On the CLK the siren is under the passenger wheelarch behind the liner.

Thanks for info, yes I,ve had the lights flash as well (no siren). I understand the siren is under the wheel arch. I will disconnect and drive to an Indy.

It is located behind the drivers wheel arch lining between the wheel & the door on your model.

Got a quote from mb, siren £102,diagnostic £108, fit £120 ! Thus have removed it myself. If I leave it disconnected for a while will it affect anything else ? Immobilser etc ?

Hi

Ive just had exact same issue, plus alarm sounding whilst driving!! Had to get replacement siren fitted - total cost £260 at MB dealer. They also said the "inclination sensor" was faulty, but cant afford to get that replaced, so use the button to disable it ...although when i dont disable the alarm doesnt go off anyway...so i wonder if it really was faulty??

I realise I'm joining quite an old thread but I need your help please, my alarm is playing up - flashing indicators with no alarm and sometimes an alarm I can't stop! I currently have the main battery disconnected to stop the issues in the short term, in daylight hours when I see what I'm doing, if I disconnect the sounder under the wheel arch, will I be able to drive the car over Christmas until I can get a new one?

Is the alarm sounder on my w211 2003 E270cdi behind the drivers side front wheel arch, I'm about to remove it.... As soon as it's light enough!

That's correct. To the rear of the wheel and behind the skirt.

The car will drive and you will be able to lock and unlock.
