W211 rear near side drops after 4 days, when started it lifts up but is it time to sell ?

Hi I have a w211 e class estate 06 plate avantguard 118,000 miles, its been a good car, but where the car has not been used it looses the suspension high on the rear nearside wheel after 4 days. When i start it up it comes up ok and drives nice but if you leave it 4 days it goes down again. i have asked the garage i use he says there are 2 valves the can do this or could be the bag (i think thats what he said). So the big problem in my head should i part x it now and cut my losses ? or get it repaired ? i have no idea what i will get charged for this by the specialist. anyone have any clues aprox what cost i could be in fore with each job? Also is it one of them things if i have the bag fitted does that then put more pressure on the other bags so i end up chasing it around the car doing them all ? in which case part x it ? I did ask him would it be dear and was told nothings dear with a laugh. I know that its a bit of a vague question but i'm try to weigh up my options, thanks for you help.

Valve blocks can be bought for 60 quid . Worth a try before shelling out 500 on a bag.

Ask him for a quote, I'm sure any competent mechanic can price up a replacement strut + labour. At least you know if it is expensive or not. You can get one from as little as £265 from Aerosus, or if you want a better brand, go for an Arnott.

A quick question to the OP.

If you decide to trade your car in to a dealer will you inform them of the suspension fault?

Usually only fitted to the rears.

Mines been doing that for years if you leave it for a week, just pumps up when restarting. Using it every day you never notice it.

I think you may be right, i have never noticed it till the lock down and where it has stayed in the garage not moving. i think i will leave it rather than start chucking money at it until it get worse, as u say once we are back doing something again it may b ok, i just have to calm myself down as i like everything just right. its been such a good car for the 6 years iv'e had it and theres not a mark on it. Ah, the great misconception Sold by the motoring trade beloved by many.

A car that is bought and paid for only costs you running and maintenance every year. The quality of the vehicle is the same until the point where it becomes a liability and then a replacement makes good sense.

Take del320’s E-coupe as a prime example. A great car that just takes a bit of TLC now and again but still a great car.

As above . A mate of mine has a perfectly reliable and fairly tidy Ford Focus, the instrument cluster half died leaving all of the gauges dead but the lamps EML etc all working, it needed front pads (£20 ?) , despite being told that it was almost certainly repairable even if a cluster had to be sourced from a scrap yard he managed to convince himself to scrap it , he got £100 for it .

His reasoning was he 'only paid £600 for it 3 years ago....' Now he is on the hunt for a replacement car...with a budget of around £800 to . He hasn't got a mechanical bone in his body and probably doesn't even own a screwdriver. The car was defiantly worth fixing, fool.
