w211 rear subwoofer 'popped' - options?

As title says the Harman Kardon subwoofer has broke.....well there was a really loud pop and now no sound emitting from it ( amp is fine and still has power) when I physically push parts of the speaker, distorted sound can be heard
I originally changed the ICE setup but retained original speakers and have a JBL Amp running just the subwoofer.
I am not sure what the spec is of the amp but it seems pretty 'meaty'.
as this has occurred is it better to upgrade the subwoofer? but want it mounted as per original. Or is it the case the original subwoofer is more than adequate and its probably just the case of replacing with s/h unit? many thx

I think you've answered your own question as to whether to sub is meaty enough to handle the new amp ?
