Lord knows why but this little cable has appeared from behind the bumper on my 2007 W211 E350.

Just seems to have fallen through a gap in the bumper panelling.

Odd little sucker - strange black plastic end. Could be so that it clips into something, but who knows.

It isn't for the lights, they're all working normally.

Obviously I'll need to get the car into a bodywork fettler or electrician to get it fixed, but I won't be able to do that for a week. In the meantime, has anyone got any thoughts on what it is? Cable for the machine gun turret, perhaps, as per 007 ?

Outside temperature sensor. Should be a small hole in the grille next to the fog lamp. Goes through there from behind

Does your dash show the temp as minus 37.5 or plus 58.0 degrees cent? .. I'm assuming its disconnected.. I had a similar thing with my last w220 I separated the wire push fit so be careful with it maybe brittle from the black temp sensor sprayed a good dose of contact cleaner left it a hour contected back up.. all was well never gave me a problem again.

Solved

Many thanks, guys. Proof once again that there are knowledgeable folk on here.
Neatly tucked away. Will fettle it later in the week - good to know it's just a bodywork fiddle.

Much appreciated.

Who needs an 007 machine gun turret, when we've got such an all-singing, all dancing motor ?

I've switched to this from a 535d, and I can't believe how quiet the engine is. I have to look down to see if the thing is still running.
