Hi forum members,
I tought I have to share this with you if you are a W211 E Class owner.
Isn't it anoying to hear the SBS pump very so on time you hit the breaks.
There is a solution and it will reduce 90% off the pump noise sound level!
Inspect SBC hydraulic pump to see if your pump is equipped with damper
(see photo A) if not, produce a copy of the DTB and ask the dealer to
install this part at no cost. If refused, have them put you in touch with
MB rep to approve goodwill installation. Damper will not silence noise
completely, but it should substantially reduce it to comfortable level.
This is the only resolve MB released to address SBC noise.

If your W211 SBS pump looks likes the photo above and you can hear
your SBS pump kicking in than continue reading about my experience!

It takes a bit of persuasion and commitment to get things going and done @ MB,
but in the end all worked out fine. At no costs or any other financial stuff.
The result:
Photo B - SBS pump with a damper installed:
Photo C
Most annoying was the sound of the SBS pump kicking in every 4/6 six times I
hit the brakes accompanied with some vibration in the braking pedal.
With the SBS damper installed (shown on picture(B, C) above)
a significant improvement.
The noise & vibration before the installation is now 90% reduced after the
damper was installed. I can hear it slightly but only when the car is running
idle (waiting for a traffic light) car ventilation/arico & radio off. Strange is
when I hear it as mentioned above I can feel it to but again slightly.
While driving the car I don't hear/notice the SBS pump noise at all, so for
me it was well worth the hassle and I am a very happy E Class driver!
And I have to thank my MB dealer (Dublin Ireland) for the service!
Grtx Rick....
Hopefully this post will help others in their silent E Class quest!
And a good example of how useful this forum can be.
Ps. English isn't my native language.
Ps.
In the process of buying a Comand head unit to replace the Audio 20
I am in contact with Comand (Europe) Ltd to do a complete build in
Question:
Did you bought/changed your head unit @ Comand (Europe) Ltd
Please tell me your experience. I have to travel from ROI to the UK and
hope not to go again for any occurring issues.
Thanks in advance
