Is it possible to reset the post facelift W211 service indicator via the steering wheel controls?

I have tried after finding the (supposed) method online but it does not work. Do I need to be connected to a star computor to do it.

The reason is this....last year we did only 5k in my E320 CDI sport and I had the service done because the number of days came up in the display.

I really only wanted to change the oil and filter myself and reset the computer, and take the car into my indie every 2 years due to the low miles covered.

Thanks for any help.

Try this...

1) Close all doors.
2) Turn the ignition on.
3) Go through your display until you have the service interval showing.
4) Press and hold the dimming button until it ask's if you want to reset the service schedule.
5) Quickly re-press and hold the dimming button again until it confirms that the service schedule has been reset.

I think his will be the press three times quickly method.

Its been covered a lot!

W211 service indicator 2006 E320

Hello everybody, yes, I know this has surfaced before.

I have two messages on my display that I would like to dispose of.

One is a red error message saying 'visit workshop' and a graphic of a car battery. This has been present for about 18 months now and came on when I connected a 12v compressor to an accessory socket. At that time I checked out the battery, all was good and still is. If I press one of the buttons on the wheel it goes away but of course it comes back on the next time I start the car. Any ideas?

The other message is a service overdue message. The service isnt overdue and I would like to clear the message. I noticed this old post (below) which points to a Dropbox page but that page no longer exists, so does anyone know where I can now find this info?

Just one more thing....I know that MB use a diagnostic system called STAR but does anyone know when the STAR system was introduced? My car has a diagnostic socket which is exactly the same as an OBD socket. Is the STAR socket different?

Many thanks.....
