I want to upgrade the audio 20 with DVD and phone unit to command unit with SatNav.
I think I may already have fibre cable but not sure.

Is this is straight swap or is there coding / issues

Any help would be appreciated

I've just changed my NTG 1 to NTG2.5 in My CLS. Have all the parts youo'd need (inc. HK amp) you would need new wiring harness Kabeldaviko supplied mine

Thanks for the reply. Whats the difference between NTG1 and the 2.5 ? I take it youre selling your NTG1 and HK amp? How much please?

Bear in mind both NTG1 and NTG 2.5 are both very dated systems with limited functionality.

Unless you are wanting to keep the car looking original you may be better spending the money on an Android head unit which will have better mapping, music streaming etc , most of these integrate with the steering wheel controls via the CAN BUS

I have an NTG1 and there is no native blue-tooth music streaming, only 5 digit Post code entry and a DVD based mapping system.

This is my current unit. I think it maybe a COMAND APS NTG 1 Audio 20 / Audio 50.
It does not have satnav
Would it have fibre cable and HK amp perhaps - really not sure

2004 W211 E320cdi

That's Audio20 - not COMAND?

ah ok. So will I have fibre optic cable or HK system? I am thinking of going for an aftermarket unit

Not quite sure what cable you might have.. does your car have phone pre wiring ? I.e phone cradle in centre arm rest?

I’d suggest that you’d go with a aftermarket unit if you want Latest maps etc

Yet again, get your VIN and call comand.co.uk, they can look up the build sheet for your car and not only advise what you have, but also recommend, supply and fit what you want. They're in Lightwater Surrey just off the M3 so not too far away - and they know more about MB ICE etc than MB main dealers! They'll also advise about aftermarket rather than MB Comand so you get something more up to date etc.

I will give them a call. Unfortunately Im in Edinburgh so they're not local to me.

I think you might have an optical (MOST) fibre setup. I'm by no means an expert...

do you have the navigation disk drive in the boot?

I had the same unit as yours Audio 20 with (CD). Last year, I took the unit out and soldered auxiliary cable with 3.5 mm jack out of the unit. Insert a blank CD in my audio unit and play audio files via ipod or phone. For navigation I use my phone. That's the easiest and cheapest fix for your car. Google piping audio via cd for instructions.

J'ai l'audio 20 et je veux mettre à jour vers la nouvelle version = DVD + NAV ... etc.
Merci
