W211 wheels on a W210?

I'm hoping to replace the shabby alloys on my 2000 W210 with better ones (probably sourced from ebay). I was planning to put wheels of the same size on (16") so I could simply swap my tyres across.

I was about to buy some refurbed W211 wheels when I friend mentioned that he thought the W211 had a different bolt/lug pattern to the W210, upsetting my plans rather!

Is this correct?
I hope not.... but thought I'd check with the experts on here before.....

There's definatley been other members who have fitted W211 wheels to their W210s, so it should be possible

Worth double checking the wheel bolts etc (I suspect you'll be fine), but they should be possible to fit.

Any members out there that have done this?
I was thinking about something like these:
MERCEDES W211 E CLASS ALLOY WHEELS 16 INCH AVANTGARDE on eBay (end time 10-Sep-09 17:10:23 BST)
and hoping they would be a simple, direct swap for the standard alloys on my w210 e220cdi elegance.

Hi Ian,

I have done this on mine and it was just having to change the bolts, as the elegance wheels have a very thick centre section and the W211 wheels don't.

BTW I have some 211 wheels and tyres for sale if interested. I have pic that I can send to you.
