So i am having new pads at 26,000 miles which I understand and expect with an automatic car but discs? MB dealership saying my discs are 0.7mm from wear limit. Can't recall having a car that needed discs at 26,000 miles before, or for that matter discs that wear at the same rate as the pads? Are they made from caramel?

I guess the pads are made of harder compound now so they wear discs out quicker? My C220CDI (auto) always gets it dicscs replaced at the same time as the pads.

cripes. Harder pads last 26,000 - shudder to think what soft ones would last like.

I had new pads on the rear, and expect the discs to last until the next change. However, the front pads and discs were changed at the same time.

The only point would be that the rear pads were changed at 100k, and the fronts at 112k.

Regards, Neil

When my car was maintained at MB main dealer I was always having new discs and pads - eg front discs replaced at 36k. Maintained outside of the main dealer network the brakes seem to last a lot longer approx 100k for front discs.
Maybe they are just being very cautious; or could it be that its a nice easy job and nice big margin. How much did they charge to change the discs and pads?

Take a wheel off and have a look...it's not difficult. I doubt you need new discs at 26000.
