before forking out for an ipod I want to be totally clear that I've understood things right.

My understanding is as follows

1. The ipod lead on my car will not charge the current ipod classic (160GB).
2. The COMAND will however give full access to the whole music library including genius playlists.
3. The purchase of a 12V to 5V adapter such as this (Charging Adapter for iPod & iPhone) will allow full functionality as well as charging allowing me to leave the unit in the car?

Many thanks for any advice

PS: just been through the COMAND manual and it just says compatible with ipod classic. No mention of generations. I do know my 3rd gen does not work

Check out lead part# A001 827 84 04. This does charge a Gen 5 iPod Nano (5v) so I'd guess it will charge an iPod Classic, too?

Ipod Classic 160GB

Hi just seen your post I have this combination and it charges fine.:D

I have the E350 coupe and new 160gb ipod, it charges and has full access to the ipod playlists/music all via comand with the 3 leads that came with the car.

ordered. Works fine but the problem is that the genius mixes cannot be accessed. This is a real pity as it is a fantastic addition to the ipod firmware.

Im a bit gutted by that to be honest
