Very nice. What a pity it's been delayed.
Has it been delayed or are youjust commenting about it being released after the saloon.

This is normal and copying its predecessor :)

Delayed I fear:

Mercedes E-Class Convertible and Wagon DelayedMay 26, 2009 - 5:19 PM - by administrator

Those patiently waiting for a new E-Class Convertible or Wagon will have to wait a little longer. According to a report in Germany's Auto Motor und Sport both versions of the E-Class have been put on hold as Mercedes-Benz searches for ways to balance its books.

In order to limit expenditures (in both development costs and marketing) the company is delaying both versions of the E-Class. The new E-Class Convertible was expected to debut at the Frankfurt Auto Show this September but instead it will be pushed back to the Geneva Auto Show, which will be held in March of 2010.

An extra six month wait isn't too long, and puts the car's release in perfect timing with the changing seasons, however, the E-Class Wagon (or Estate as it's called in Europe) won't appear until 2012.

The article also says that Mercedes is planning to release the second-generation CLS in 2010.

Is it me or do the rear lights look like those from a Fiat Stilo?

Edit - Estate

Usually when I hear such stories I tend to believe it's due to design & manufacturing quality problems.

Thanks KHZ. I think the front end looks shirt without the "r" The back end - take your pick - Mondeo, Vectra. Perhaps it will grown on me. Has the side profile been nicked from a Ford Mondeo too! Thats two of us getting coats.

Now that floats my boat instantly.
I doubt it would float anyone's boatand hopefully it will sink without trace ;)

I think that is just about the ugliest Mercedes-Benz I have seen, yes... it is even worse than the CLS

I was enquiring about the estate at the weekend - ordering now for October 09 delivery.

No delays there - and only "unconfirmed sometime in 2010" for the convertible.

And I was thinking Vectra !!

Regards

A bit more rounded - but yes!

Still, I think it looks quite good. Despite all the comparisons ( it's pretty difficult to design an estate car that is really different) it looks both balanced and is practical. Compare to the BM 5 series........ I know which is prettier IMHO

good to see that the 212 estate will be spacious like its predecessors
