Looks better in coupe/cabrio form but I'd put that down to the less snout-like grill, front reminds me of the RS6 front bumper for some reason but still looks like a bloated C

Agreed, the saloon and estate just look a mess in comparison.

Im guessing the Red Coupe is a Sport Model, and the Convertible is an SE??

The front air intakes are quite a bit larger than the Convertibles.

Or is the Red car an AMG? :dk:

The slightly squared off rear wheel arch [ whether you liked or not- supposed to be redolent of the older Ponton coupe era] was balanced to an extent by the front angular headlights-- now it looks a bit "unbalanced" imho :dk:

so this is the first show of pre and post facelift..

Opinions please!

Until I see it in the flesh I am no sure, the pics look terrible, but the video makes it look OK.

the car now looks as if it has the face from another car .. sort of a face transplant

Now looks like a proper Mercedes that a youngster has modified with flash-Harry wheels and lights to get the American gangsta look.:)

North American International Auto Show 2013
Live Broadcast from Detroit: Mercedes-Benz Press Conference

The New Generation E-Class Saloon and Estate models are two of altogether six world premieres that Mercedes-Benz is presenting at the NAIAS 2013 in Detroit. Efficient engines, new assistance systems and a new design idiom modernize the E-Class comprehensively.
In both the Saloon and Estate models no less than eleven new or optimized assistance systems from the future S-Class celebrate their world premiere. "Intelligent Drive" as for now on refers to a combined host of comfort and safety features. As such Mercedes-Benz is underscoring its leading position as a safety pioneer. Like the Saloon and Estate models, Mercedes-Benz has completely revised the Coupé and Cabriolet members of the E-Class family.
New additions include powerful and efficient BlueDIRECT four-cylinder engines featuring pioneering injection technology and trend-setting assistance systems, which come under the heading "Intelligent drive". Visually, both the Coupé and Cabriolet draw on the new Mercedes-Benz design idiom. Exclusive, luxurious equipment for sublime refinement underlines the close affinity with the E-Class family.

I don't know, that is the best shot so far.

So, I like the new E from the front 3/4 view when lying on the floor.

It's a start I guess! :D

Is it just me or does the new front look like a kid who's stuck his fingers in his mouth and pulled a face!!

I think the front works on the coupe but think by making the front on the saloon like that it is just ugly Also flattening the side around the rear wheels on the saloon has made it a bit "ordinary" from the side view
