W212 e220 cdi rear light clusters

Hi all

I'm new to Mercedes so this may or may not be an issue; in fact it could be the user.

The outer rear light cluster on my W212 works intermittently when I unlock the car. The inner clusters on both sides (boot lid) work as does the outer on the drivers side. When I start the car, the outer cluster is not working either but there are no warnings on the dash or anywhere.

Is it a switch i've forgotten to operate, a problem with the car or is there a reason only those three clusters light up?

Ok so since my post, I've found that the parking lights (LED light strips) on the cluster work intermittently. If I tap the rear light, the parking light will work. It may work for 5 minutes or a few days.

Has anyone tried to repair these lights and if so, can I have some help please?

Hi im having the same problem !! Any help how to fix it !!

An educated guess from me would be replacing the entire LED strip. They are not like filament bulbs and cannot be individually done. If it is not the strip itself, then it could well be a bad connection or a bad earth.

My guessing would be bad connection.
