It does sound like cooler seals . I’m sure 5mins on a ramp at an Indy they would confirmPCV and turbo seem dry on the surface at least. Regarding the leak i get a few wet spots on my driveway every day from it.
3k buddy , Madre de Dios !!!So I took my car to the dealership and they quoted me a estimate of £3000 repair for the oil cooler replacement/fix after the diagnostic and confirming that the oil cooler is the issue.
LE: I also have the car booked in at the dealership for the airbag replacement and the firmware update (can't do one without the other) its for a recall on my car hopefully no limp mode after update
Hi its been about a week since my firmware update, everything seems to be fine so far might have a higher fuel consumption or its just a placebo effect ill keep you updated.A good independent Merc specialist like PCS Hordean or MB Automotive in Loughborough (because I use those two) would charge around £800-1000+ for oil cooler deals depending on what you wanted changed at the time (e.g. a new cooler or swirl flap motor also worth considering). £3k is laughable.
I would also be asking somewhere like PCS if they can do the airbag recall without doing the software update. I’d pay a few low £hundreds to not have the software update myself as it’s such an unknown quantity, but it might be fine. If you get it done, please report back
So as i was taking apart my car today to do the oil cooler i found out that i was missing a gasket ( was not installed by the previous mechanic that worked on the car) and i think that my oil leak problem is from that gasket. Now since i got this far should i continue and do the oil cooler gaskets since i started to do so or put the gasket on this and call it a day (took me nearly 6 hours to get to the point where im just about to take the inlet manifold, fuel lines off)Hi its been about a week since my firmware update, everything seems to be fine so far might have a higher fuel consumption or its just a placebo effect ill keep you updated.
Both holes look like cholesterol clogged artery cross sections. Is that amazing amounts of gunky oil deposit, or is it a repair as suggested by Petrol Pete? Can you clean that part up and take a few close ups of the mating surface for us please . Not sure what's going on there with the smaller orifice . has there been a repair ?

Bought new ones I was just a bit surprised when I didn't see it when I took it off but I'm replacing every gasket that I touch on my way to the oil cooler.Don’t reuse them. One time only
You’ll be fine. Plenty of people here who’ve done it, so don’t be afraid to ask if you are unsure about anythingBought new ones I was just a bit surprised when I didn't see it when I took it off but I'm replacing every gasket that I touch on my way to the oil cooler.
LE: Just hope that I can put it back together one all is said and done )
Hi, it was the oil cooler and I've replaced them but I've encountered more issues that I should have but all good in the end.How did this turn out in the end? Was it the oil cooler seals or read main?
