    Hi There
I have an 2010 W212 E350 CDI Estate with rear only air suspension and the car also has adaptive lights

The air suspension is giving me problems and I am looking to see if there is an upgrade/exchange system for the suspension such as standard shocks and springs may be upgraded or lowered or coil-over type suspension such as Bilstein B12kit or others.
I want to check before I spend loads of money on a straight replacement that gives me a so-so ride quality to see if there is an upgrade

    Any suggestions

Try Arnott for a coil spring conversion. They do one for the 211 cheaper than aftermarket air bag replacement. Wish they had fitted my particular model as would have preferred the reliability

I have tried them but I think it is just for a 211:(

    What problems are you having?
Is the rear of the car dropping if parked for a while?
The air suspension units may be leaking -- they are probably the original so now 9+ years old.
There may be a leak in the air lines which is worth checking first as it is a cheap fix.

Replacement units aren't too expensive -- if you go for non-MB units.
Using the air suspension units means that the car retains the self-levelling characteristics no matter what the load is in the back of the car.

Lots of voodoo about these systems. Most of the time there is a pretty simple fault and they work so well when operational. True there is a point to give up. Are you there yet?

    Thanks Guys for the input
    Faults on the system are
Suspension going low overnight---- Yes this is a leak on the system and I have had this for a few months butI was living with it for now!!

Suspension going high and Totally solid suspension NO control at all
This was a new fault that suddenly came on ,First I checked the fuses all OK, Then I tried the relay that is located in the boot and swapped it Problem continued. Next I changed the valve control unit located behind rear bumper, Still had the problem
Then I have checked the two Level sensors on the Air suspension struts that connect to the chassis via a small cheap plastic arm
**This was the fault** One of the arms was broken so at the moment I have fabricated a replacement metal arm as a quick fix and now looking for a replacement Mercedes part or hopefully an upgrade part.

Now this is fixed I am still looking to see if there are any upgrade suspension options

There is a Bilstein B12 kit specifically for the S212. This is very similar to the kit that I am in process of buying for my S211. It has 2 Front springs + front and rear shots as the air suspnsion on the rear as a spring.

The idea behind the "air spring" is to maintain the rear end levelled with the front when you put load into the boot.

Apart from a Coilover kits, I have not seem anything more for my S211 as Koni is only for W211 and the old HR CupKit is not longer obtainable... so the Bisltein seems to be the only kit and please check as there are different ones depending is you have sport chasis or not.

    Hope this helps

That probably is the air suspension units leaking.
The pump will burn out due to overuse if you do nothing.
You can get non-merc units reasonably cheaply and still retain the self levelling characteristics.
