W212 E63 (6.2 NA)

Only because they've changed their identity about 4 times. 🤣

They buy the dregs (albeit stuff that gets attention) from auctions and flip them with zero prep. As a local, I'd advise you not to waste your time.
It was tongue in cheek I'd never give them my business 🤣

Some interesting reviews on sterling cars on google, OP read them before going any further.

As a local, I'd advise you not to waste your time with them. As per above, I'd put them in the same category as Motorhub/Keighley Trade Centre in terms of "places not to buy from". You might as well go direct to the auction.

TBF, if you really know what you're doing, and realise you're basically buying an ex-auction car, and expect to spend some money on your purchase, you could get a bargain from Sterling Cars, but I'd not take the chance. They certainly don't believe in anything but selling first-come first-served, though, so I wouldn't travel far; if you think a car is a bargain, so may someone else, and if they turn up with cash while you're on the way, you'll have had a wasted journey.

This pre facelift E63 Biturbo is for sale a few minutes away from me.
An extremely optimistic dealer, I reckon he is at least £4k over priced.
Crazy to think my 2 year newer facelift with only 36k miles sold for less.
It's a funny old world with AMG pricing:dk:

Overe 700 bhp, though, which is perhaps what he thinks will make the difference. Or perhaps he's just leaving room for what seems like a big discount when it gets to the haggling...

No, I don't really believe that either. And given what I know from expensive personal experience about the marginal nature of the conrods on the early M157 with an aggressive map, I wouldn't touch that car with a bargepole.

The dealer probably doesn't realise that selling a remapped car will be difficult. (Ask me how I know that:doh:)
Made even harder by an unrealistic asking price.

I think it's the 1000NM+ torque that can slowly kill it. 🤔

A thick-fingered numpty using full bore at every opportunity probably wouldn't have been so lucky...

A few year's ago when i had dealings with them they did a full refundable deposit as part of the trust con I was miles away so I got mine back after putting up a good fight

I'd seen this ad as it's also local to me - i personally don't like saloon cars - i'm a wagon driving family man but the dodgy badges & bolt on spoilers would be enough to scare me off without even viewing the car...in my opinion it just looks wrong..
As for a map, mine's been mapped but i rarely use it in anger & certainly haven't experienced any issues for having done so.

If you experience a misfire at high revs and full bore, get it sorted immediately. My CLS is stock, but when I bought it I had the intercooler coolant pump changed at once as a precaution; once bitten, twice shy...

(Short story: Intermittent intercooler coolant pump fault - random misfire at full chat high revs, EML illuminates, switch off then on again and all is normal - no fault codes - new plugs, coils - still occurs, but car fine nearly all the time - sudden loud rattle on startup - bent conrods, one scored bore - £11k bill. I could afford it, but I'd rather not have had to...

See this thread: It's Not A Good Sign When... | General Discussion for the full story if you're interested.)

Just asked about the history…..

Only six stamps and one random service at a back street garage for £300 in may 2021.

Safe to say I’ll definitely be avoiding! I don’t mind high mileage as long as it has the history to back it up!

If anyone spots any nice 156 estates - please post on this thread

I've read the thread about a year ago when i was experiencing an occasional miss fire - not always under load, ended up being a damaged ignition lead - once replaced the car was business as usual & has been ever since...
However, if i ever experience another one i'll certainly look into the intercooler coolant pump fault - thanks for the heads up.

I am still on the lookout for an M156 W212 Estate - Pretty much every day I've looked, and still to this day, the two listed in this thread are all that's come up! Has anyone seen any that I haven't?

There are not many estates. I am aware of 10 x 2011 and 17 x 2010, so 27 in total. There might be more but not that many.

Got my numbers wrong. 9x 2011 and 18x 2010
Always wondered how many S211 M156 were imported to the UK and how many in total were built world wide 🤔
