Thanks both. I am sure my neighbours are delighted too.

I filled the tank with V-Power to set the benchmark. I will try Tesco Momentum and Esso Supreme 99 next for comparison. Let's see which garage will hit the jackpot. Any recommendations on fuels?

I was stopped by police in Scotland and explained that I had paid for my car before the lockdown was announced and needed it to commute (which is true) hence I was travelling to pick it up. They agreed that it was a reasonable journey. So, it was all legal :)

Congratulations on your purchase, it's an amazing engine and fantastic drive/ride the W212. 👍

Please post some pictures when you get the time.

The mph de-limiter is rather scary. As just keeps pulling this engine high up the rpm range, especially with its higher redline ability. Not that I have been stupid speed. You just get a feel, it would take off, were the road long enough 😆😆 .

Anyway, no doubt you will enjoy your new car, good luck, and keep the thread updated with your findings, or mods you decide to go with or not.

Fellow 6.3 owner 👍

The cold start is a great alarm clock:p
I've used Tesco Momentum the whole time I've had my E63. Simply because its the cheapest 98+Ron fuel.
No complaints, and mines remapped.

Thanks Tom. I definitely agree with your comment on the engine's pulling ability at high revs. This is very much to my liking. One day I would certainly like to stretch its legs on a straight section of autobahn. Until then, 70 mph it is :)
Regarding mods - the car hasn't got any which was one of the reasons for choosing it. I have seen tastefully modded examples so I am not ruling it out. But for now I think I will keep it stock.

I have used the shell V Power for the last 20 months now. The petrol garage team no me rather well now 🤗

Absolutely, and I have only done the one mod to mine. I totally understand, I didn't touch mine for almost a year.

Stock, or modded form, these E63's are fantastic machines, they are the perfect family unit or on the other hand the perfect machine to have a blast.

As you say so capable of hitting silly speeds without realising it. Such a comfortable cruiser, doing say 70/80 feels like 30/40 mph they are so well built and put together.

Something about the N/A engine that feels special 👍.

Tut Tut.........Queen Nicola wouldn't allow that.
Well Rog, crossing the border is currently illegal. I can't think that anyone would view the private sale of a car as essential or an emergency in the current circumstances.

According to the OP,
Quote - "I was stopped by police in Scotland and explained that I had paid for my car before the lockdown was announced and needed it to commute (which is true) hence I was travelling to pick it up. They agreed that it was a reasonable journey. So, it was all legal"

I'm not getting into any disagreement over this. What's done is done now.
Are you still in the force David? Genuine question.

I hadn't seen that from the OP, Rog so that's fair enough. The laws/rules/guidelines have been interpreted in many different ways so many times it's hard for everyone.

And yes I'm still a serving officer.

Where on earth did you find that, I've been looking for a 6.2 e63 for months!

I have been the same and came across to it on Facebook marketplace and contacted the owner on the same day.

Previously I saw other good cars advertised and sold very quickly and so I thought I would act quick on this one. For instance, there was a silver estate in December from the main dealer which I think was rare for a car of that age. It sold in less than two days. Had that one been a saloon I would have bought it straight away.

You've got to get it done, or you will end up with that forced inducted crap lol. Get that N/A powered unit and get it quick 👍😃

Ah, I'm looking for an estate, you've found a saloon I assume.

I looked at the dealer silver e63 estate but was keen not to have a silver car.

Really regret missing it was it was a good spec at an ok price with dealer warranty etc

Not like, I "Love" the big bad 6.3. what is there not to 🤣👍 other units are available........... Just don't sound as good, in my opinion.

The OP is keeping his stock. And rightly so, they sound fantastic that way.

All V8's have room for more vocal sound. It's just getting the right balance to which an owner wants to achieve. I think AMG'S sound amazing with exhaust mods. "All" engine variants, before I get fed to the wolves😂

Ill also agree 👍 ive got the stock c63 ppp🥰

That is going to limit your choice quite a lot! I'm not that keen on silver cars but seem to have 2 amg estates on the drive and they are both silver!
The majority of W/S 212 E63's seem to be black, white or grey.
Certainly far less silver than the 211 models.

Hello again everyone. I am planning to get my car serviced soon and I have engine oil questions.I thought I would continue on this thread.
Digital service book of my car shows in the past 10 years of full MB service history the dealers that serviced it used different grades of oil. They used Mobil ESP 1 for the first few services which is 5W-30. Then they used 0W-40 for the following few services and there is one service record that shows they used 5W-40. Has oil recommendation for M156 engine changed over the last few years? Do any of these grades do harm to M156?
I will get my independent Mercedes specialist service the car and he said he last serviced a M156 with 5W-30.
I am not entirely sure which grade to go for. Any recommendations? Thank you all.
