W212 E63 AMG S worth it over the normal AMG?

With the remap it’s not necessarily the bhp / torque number, it’s how aggressive they make it that can causes issues. Most of the maps used in the early days of the M157 became too aggressive with lots of low down torque and high boost creating lots of heat. Most, but not all Tuners then started to offer less aggressive maps. Those Tuners that write their own being the best, as they could easily alter parameters based on the known failures to reduce the risk of bent rods etc. MSL / Big Fish were definitely one of the very first to revise maps, but to be honest their original ones would have been well written anyway. Main issues was / were / is with those buying in generic maps.

Hence why MSL limited yours to around 660-670ish bhp when they can make 720
True. Acid asked if I was happy with 666 and said he could tweak the map to give extra if I wanted it.
To be fair, the upgrade over stock was plenty. It really needed an LSD to put that power down though.
First thing to do if it hasn't got one. Even a stock engine would benefit greatly .

Just wondering if anyone has received letter recently regarding recall on steering rack bolts? Apparently they need to change them 🔩 🔩 🔩

The safety recall is apparently in reference to 3 bolts holding the power steering motor. Got my letter today, you may get some coming through the post 📫

Oh yes got mine yesterday. Forgot to mention it to my mechanic who had the car in today ☹️

The safety recall is showing on the MOT history, will have to be done buddy, that's another trip and time out to the dealer 🙄

Wonder what cars it effects

I quite like going to the merc epsom dealer just so I can hear the sound from the exhaust when they drive it away to work on it and bring it back hahaha

Will probably be quite a few I reckon, maybe cls or models around that era, they might stagger the recall to avoid a panic. 🤷‍♂️

Recall booked in for the following week. Apparently they take ages to sort it once at the dealer and I'll have to pick a courtesy car and leave mine overnight at least according to the service team at mb epsom. I'll ask if I can use the c63 Black series sitting on their lot as a courtesy car 😉🤭, after all it is a downgrade on my car so I'll be doing them a favour 😅

Touchwood, they should book you up with a new courtesy car for the day. My neighbours were given a brand new CLA wagon on a 71 plate when their car went in for a service, looked really nice. Hopefully they shouldn't keep your car in for any longer than needed and will be a peace of mind once sorted 👍 😉

Thanks , I don't mind putting on mileage on their car if they drag their heels haha. Sadly my BMW probably won't have its coolant issue fixed by then otherwise I'd prefer to get the top down in this weather and listen to it trying to sound like a proper v8 😅 I think the BMW will need to lose its resonator and mufflers next. I'm 45 going on 16 , can't expect anything less from me 🤡

Had my steering rack recall done, dropped the car off on a Friday and it was done by Monday. In the interim I had a a200 brand new saloon as a courtesy car. Felt far too sensitive on the throttle and brakes, my car is so lazy 🤣 . Touch the throttle on the a200 and it lurches forward in comfort mode lol. Anyhow the interior with mbux is stunning looking. Simply wow

Annoyingly merc did their usual free health check and identified a small split in the tread of the tyre they're saying would fail an MOT. Im annoyed as these tyres are barely a year old with not much mileage on them. Goodyear Eagle F1 supersport.

Good excuse to get some PS4S's fitted. Michelin have a deal on, buy 2 and get £24 or buy 4 and get £60 cash back have a look on Camskill. Got a full set delivered for £830.

Unfortunately due to a radar fault mine has been back and forth to Mercedes, happy to say it's now sorted yet spent far to much time in various A200's and I'm not a fan of the current infotainment systems, think most manufactures are trying to hard and the systems are dangerous. Have to spend to much time looking at a huge screen to figure out what and where the feature is rather than looking at the road.

Had Eagle 1, great tyres that don't seem to wear out but I think they were softer on the sidewalls? Thumbs up to PS4S, definately go to tyre. Abbreviation sounds like Sony PlayStation 4 too 😀

Was it merely a case of replacing the bolts or did they do more? Mine is booked in on Thursday for the same recall.

The parking sensors are also on point finally. I hate the sensor set up on all the "older" mercs i have owned this far. In the A200 you get a visual of the whole car on the screen and proximity of objects all around the car. All the other mercs ive driven are pants, you have to look at the rear view mirror for the rear sensor proximity reading or the dashboard next to the front window for the fronts, and you only get left or right readings. Absolute rubbish implementation by mercedes. My 2005 BMW has much better visuals for parking sensors than all the mercs ive owned (around 6 of them). Sorry for the rant haha

Thanks for the Camskill heads up. I'm holding out for the black circles 15% off on michelins, i have to get 4 x 255/35/20 either MPS4S or MPS5 for my coolant loving BMW. Havent worked out which i would prefer on a GT car yet. I'll stick on PS4S on the rears of the merc soon for sure

Had a great time driving in the slow lanes on the M25 on saturday, various chaps in vans drove side by side and a couple even started discussing the car, probably only because of the exhaust. I wonder what my neighbours must be thinking (w"£$ker - no doubt haha)

They gave me a sheet with all the parts they replaced (there seemed to be quite a few), cant remember but it was only bits relating to the steering rack I believe.

Just the bolts, but they also did a front end alignment as a courtesy.
