Hey, does anyone have the retrofit instructions to install the illuminated door sills? If not, is there any harm in piggy backing off the power to the door puddle/courtesy lights?
Hi
I have almost certainly got the OEM work instructions on WIS, and if the 212 is the same as my 219 then it will be fed from the rear fuse box.
There will be an OEM wiring loom and to be honest the work instruction almost entirely will cover installing it.
Feeding from the door lights will involve feeding a cable through to the door, which would be difficult, if it was me go for the OEM route with the new loom.
If you let me have youre chassis number I can give you the loom pt.no.
I am not sure how to save the work instruction off of my WIS I can try again, but if not i can get let you have the pertinent points of it if you like.

One of the previous owners (bit of a knob, really, imo...) of my (non-AMG) ML500 had fitted illuminated AMG sill plates at some point, and piggybacked off a live feed in the wiring running under the plastic mounting for the sill plates. TBF, it was a neat and simple job, and well-executed.

Massive thanks to Andy for sending me the WIS that shows the process. It's quite involved and as I've previously read it needs to be wired up to the front SAM. This involves feeding it through the firewall and disconnecting the orange 14 pin connector. This is just for power and management right? As you still need to tap in to the footwell light which I assume acts as the trigger?
