Hi all,

I've been waiting for 6 months to get a right rear shock from mercedes. I've been waiting so long that I've had to MOT the car today and she of course failed with a leaking shock.

I'm desperate to get her sorted before the MOT runs out and I stupidly already purchased an ebay shock - which of course comes all the way from China. Saw that a little too late.

Does anybody have a shock they are willing to sell? Or know of a place that stocks them here in the UK?

Thanks all!

I dont....but you should ALWAYS replace shocks as a pair if you don't want spurious handling.

Yeah the rear left was replaced and I really should have done the right one at the time. Now I'm paying the price! Super annoying

Have you seen the rear shock, and have you got any clues about the original manufacturer, maybe even with the OEM part number along side the Merc part number?

Various ones available depending on options.

What part number you after?

An MOT fail with an existing MOT is a "grey area".

Was it a listed as a Dangerous or Major? The current MOT is not cancelled by the failure but that might be picked up by ANPR if used on the road and who knows how your insurance might view it?

Repair immediately (major defects):
  • Nearside Front Coil spring fractured or broken (5.3.1 (b) (i))
  • Offside Rear Shock absorbers has a serious fluid leak (5.3.2 (b))
I knew of both items and have a replacement set of H&R springs in the boot but as the shock has been on back order, I wasn't able to get it fixed in time. I chanced it.

What's annoying is that my cars are always super pristine and I take really good care of them. This is just one of those annoying set of events that really is all caused by Mercedes not being able to manufacture these parts. 6+ months is ridiculous. So how can I keep on driving my car if they can't provide maintenance items.

Mercedes will manufacture the parts. It is down to their suppliers.

I know… I thought it’s not too bad, OP is desperately looking for the part
Indeed. Good spot.

Presumably this part for a 2018 CLS is the same for a 2012 212 and the part number is correct 👍

Had this same issue few years back. Was a NS rear Shock absorber I was after. Was a 6/8 week back then. Nothing has improved then. Genuine part was near on 700 pounds.

Thanks all! I did see that one too. Out of desperation I bought some ebay ones just to see if it could work as a stopgap. They arrived rattling yesterday...and of course immediately regretted my decision. I would never put inferior parts on any car but I was forced.

I've been on a searching spree and ended up here:

There was a forum somewhere in the US of somebody with an AMG running these and they were very happy. On the Miessler site, when you go through the options it falls under being compatible with AMG....BUT....in the description it says 'No 4matic' and 'No AMG'. You can see the part being shown in this list:

So I'm running the risk it nog being correct but I really have no other options.

Wish me luck

I double checked on a US site and they are selling a genuine mercedes shock compatible with e350, e550, e63 with option code 489 (active suspension).

Part number is Genuine Mercedes 2123201630, A2123201630 Shock Absorber; Rear Right - Mercedes

On the Miessler site they say that the shock is compatible with that exact original part number - 2123201630

I'm hoping this works out!
You deserve some good luck after all of your efforts! 👍
