W212 E63 Rocker Cover

It looks like I have a small leak on my rocker cover. Has anyone had to replace the gasket and/or rocker cover before?

My local main dealer mentioned that he had a C63 with a similar leak and it cost over 600 quid to sort...

cant say ive heard of these leaking yet, £600 seems a bit steep

I replaced the gasket on mine - £20 or so in rubber. Bit of a dull task, but beats paying £600 for sure.

Right I've finally had this repaired. Turns out it is the actual rocker cover itself that has a crack in it and oil has been weeping out of it.

My local independent are busy doing the work - over 460 quid for a new cover though... It actually seems that this is a common Mercedes issue - anyone else had to do this?

I've heard of cracked alloy rocker covers on the M156 - apparenty not uncommon. I believe the M159 and some late M156s had a composite plastic rocker cover.

The plastic rocker covers on the C63 are still known to be a common problem cracking.
