The Glow plug light comes on my dash maybe once every week or two the last year. It stays in for 1 min. It gives 2 codes ,P067400 & 67200. The outputs for the Glow plug in cylinder 4 & 2 has an electrical fault or open circuit.
The last week it's coming one once daily for about a minute.
I've no scanner so can't check codes till next week.
Should I change the full set of glow plugs ? Can you recommend a brand that is reliable please, I don't want to fork out for OEM on a 350km car .

Beru or Bosch are both good makes , I got 6 Beru for £40 off eBay last year . I probably change them every 4 years at that price .
Your glow plug relay may be playing up as well if it’s original ??

Thanks mate. That's a great price. I've seen Bosch online for €20-30 each. I'm not sure if the relay is original tbh. Would it throw up a different fault? Each time I clear the faults the same 2 Glow plug faults come back.

Just change the broken ones....its a two seconds job to tell which are knackered with nothing more than a multi meter. Do you change all your car bulbs when one goes? of course not... and glow plugs are like bulbs.... they work or they don't. And also just by changing the dead ones you minimise the chances of snapping one off in the head...a common occurrence if you are not careful or try it with a cold engine. I only changed 2 in the five years I had my last diesel.

My understanding is that a failed glow plug can damage a glow plug module (£120 on my car ) . I feel in the diy world is that if I have to change a single plug after fitting a new set 3-4 years ago and have to put a new orange turbo seal on , then I might as well just change them all and give myself another few years .
This must lessen the chance of a seized gp because they aren’t left in too long ?

Glow plugs from Mercedes are not particularly expensive.

Ask MB Newcastle for a price from their eBay store.

I think NGK are OE parts for Mercedes glow plugs on the OM642 diesel engine.

See here to locate the correct part:

For my E350 CDI, which is the E350 engines to engine No. 41324858, it's Merc part No. A6421590101, and according to the NGK parts finder, NGK part number CZ159, or also known as 92053.
These are ceramic, 7V.
Tip: get your VIN number into an online VIN decoder so you can see exactly what your engine is, and engine number.

Opie Oils via their eBay shop are the cheapest place I can find at the moment, £31.21 each if buying four or more.

From Mercedes LSH Auto, you can get genuine A6421590101 for £51.71 each if buying four or more.

So currently £190ish vs £310ish for NGK (OEM) vs Merc (NGK OE).

HOWEVER, I'm slightly confused that with the Merc part number A6421590101, all the images of these plugs on eBay show NGK part No. CZ109.
Also note this site to cross-reference:

I'm thinking CZ109 might be the part supplied to Mercedes with the Merc part number visible; and,
CZ159 is the exact same part, with CZ159 re-etched to the left of where CZ109 was, the CZ109 part number on the top row, and the Merc part number on the bottom row obliterated? Best image I could get from NGK.

You might be able to use this site to enter your VIN and confirm the glow plug Mercedes part number:

Unfortunately there isn't a W1ghty special £40 for 6 Beru plugs option here; I don't think Beru make the plugs for the OM642.852 engine and their online parts finder supports this theory.

Yeah, I wish I could go that route, but they seem to not be compatible with the E350CDI :(
