W212 Headlight Darkening?

How does one go about achieving this look with the headlights:

Is it a tint or are there specific headlight replacements you can purchase?

Be careful you don't fall foul of the MoT .....

From reading other forums, the standard practice is to use black hammerite, only the smooth though, don't want to look silly......
