Whilst at MB Brooklands I spotted the new W212 saloon and coupe in the flesh.

When I asked to see the interior and boot I was told that no one is allowed to view the inside as its a press car (they are both RHD).

Has anyone sat in these?

The saloon was an E250 Avantgarde model with auto (not out in the UK till later this year). The coupe was an E350 CDI Sport.

The coupe definately has a presence about it. It's huge.

I've placed my order today gone for Tansanite blue with Chesnut Brown leather. I did get shown the ipod add on on the W211 but it seems very expensive to add on. So i'm going to wait to see if another type of add on is available in time.

He's also changed his wrist watch over

I saw the two in mbworld at the last gtg. Im not sure if its made up its mind whether it wants to be a MB, Audi, BMW or Lexus.. more of a case of "hell.. i'll be all of it!".

lol!

The ones at Brooklands both had the black ash dash insert.
The back makes me think Lexus, the front is MB, the DRLs are definately Audi. The dash is BMW.

Hello

I've sat in a few of these and the coupe at the Geneva show earlier in the year.

One of the features on a salloon was a sort of bag in the boot that slid out from under where the rear headrests would be. Weired option? ok for the take away I guess.

See here for pics of the cars from the show.

Does anyone have a picture of the boot space area?

I've tried searching for one but found a small picture on whatcar but can't seem to find any other.

I'm not sure if I have gone for the right combo. I think it looks like dark colours suit it better (except white for Sport models).

I wanted to go Cuprite brown but didn't want light interior Chesnut brown would be too much I think.

Such a busy interior no matter which way you look at it !!

If the aircon/climate controls were flush with the stereo and the doors were less busy, I'd like it more. It's still a nice place to be sat though I'd imagine!

Don't like the heating controls position and for that reason I'm out!

no it doesn't

it looks like a truck load of cheap and nasty plastic which would be more at home in a Kia

Too many sharp edges, tacky bits of glued on chrome etc

Sadly the pictures do make it look as if it's overstyled. As if they couldn't stop adding details. Cheap.

No doubt it looks better in the flesh.

I agree. plus, the interior looks cheap.. sure its soft touch plastics, but its still crap. On top of that, the new radio controls look like they have been lifted straight out of the old Vauxhall Omega and i cant believe that they are in both the c class and now the e class. yikes!!

and the style is so so so not aesthetically pleasing.. really is a sorry excuse. The mercedes s class dash show some level of class, but this is hidious, both for the e class saloon and coupe.

i keep talking about the w124, and one thing i havent said is just how uniform and balanced the interior is.. very mature and so simple, it will age for another 20 years very very well...

These new ones are too radical to last, and in 3-4 years will look crap, old, aged and really will again help the cars age faster, depreciate faster and cause a society of buying cars just to impress the neighbour, not your wallet.

OLD IS GOLD lol... well in this case anyway..

CLK quality is dead, thoank god they are no more, but what is Mercedes doing...

nasty!

I spent a while looking at the coupé version on Sunday during the GTG @ Mercedes-Benz World, Brooklands.

Looked like quite a nice car IMHO (especially compared to it's rivals today), and I was quite surprised at how 'cheap' it was - as in value for money, not as in the product itself.

IIRC it was about £35k - seems a bargain?
