W212 key fob not unlocking.

My E350CDi's key fob has suddenly stopped locking the car. It unlocks it, opens the tailgate starts the car.....but won't lock it. Is it likely to be an internal button that's kaput? Fixable? Or new fob?

Hopefully you have a spare?

It is worth trying a new battery and a small spray of electrical contact cleaner, the keys can be expensive.

Yep, I have a spare fortunately!

A new battery didn't make any difference, but I'll try a bit of contact cleaner. I've found a repair service that replaces any inoperative buttons - £25 all-in, which is reasonable enough.

I have used these guys in the past, they charged a flat fee back then, but it was probably 10 years ago.
You post the key to them via royal mail next day, they fix it and then send it back to you via royal main next day.
In my case it was a the spare key that wasn't working, so wasn't urgent.
