Good morning forum members,
Hope you all had a good Christmas and wish all a happy new year.
It's been well over 3 years since my last post when I had just bought my W212 250CD. It has been a joy to drive and still going strong as my daily workhorse. Apart from the routine servicing, its had one issue. It had lost its kickdown and the engine management light came on. The car felt very sluggish, although still driveable.
My local indy said it was a blocked DPF. The dreaded DPF!! With a journey time of 45 mins each way, each day, I thought it would be OK. The indy said they will eventually block, especially as I had done over 120K miles. My indy knew of a local company (in West Yorkshire) who professionally cleaned DPFs for trucks and guaranteed the PDF would be over 98% cleaned/unblocked. This saved me a huge amount of money. I haven't encountered any issues since having the PDF cleaned early Autumn 2017. If anyone is interested in the cleaning company, I can find out for you. I guess any Benz 'stealership' would have suggested replacing the PDF. Will miss the trust and honesty I get from local MB indy R H Autos, York, when I move. Richard Hollins is such a great guy. I'll be moving to the East Sussex coast near Brighton, Eastbourne in the next couple of months. Can any of you good folks recommend a good MB indy in the East Sussex area?
Many thanks.
