Hello Guys

I recently bought a C238 E Class Coupe and have been having carplay issues since buying it. It's temperamental, it works fine majority of the time but then on occasions it doesn't work at all for the whole journey.

I've replaced the usb port unit from Mercedes which didn't fix it so I booked it in for a diagnostic at my local dealership who said they couldn't find an issue. They deleted and reinstalled the software and updated it and charged me £90 for the privilege. A few days later I'm still having the same problems.

Strangely when it's not working I can get it working by manually turning on my headlights changing it from automatic. As soon as I flick it back to auto carplay cuts out. I've booked it in again as they're saying there maybe a loose connection somewhere.

Anyone had a similar experience and manage to resolve this issue?

Welcome.

If you had the infotainment system software updated, and you had the USB port replaced, then I am assuming that you've also done all the basics, but just in case:

- Try different USB cables, ideally use a genuine Apple cable

- Power-cycle the iPhone (important)

- Try it with someone else's iPhone, to eliminate any issues with your own iPhone

Failing that, you can try talking to these specialists, who will provide a better service than an MB dealer:

Hi Mark

Thanks for your response. I've tried everything you've suggested. Used numerous different cables. Original, data cables, wireless adapters. Tried numerous different phones, both I phone and Android. But no luck.
Will give these specialists a call. Thanks

I know this may sound silly, but I had to do this in my car to get the AAWireless unit working in my W213, might work for you.

Go into the phone menu and delete all the paired phones out of the car, clear it completely.

Then connect the phone with a genuine apple cable and see if Carplay boots up. It worked for me, the phone then auto re-connected to the bluetooth on the car. Worth a try?
