Afternoon,
My car is currently in a MB workshop (2019 E63S Estate), purchased used from a reputable indie. I booked the car in as it was displaying, "Fault, do not drive over 50mph" every time I started the car, upon clicking more information it relates to an Airmatic issue.
The dealer has started to diagnose the car and currently has the seat out for access to the "Suspension control unit". Whilst I have no reason to not believe them the dealer is saying that there is 3rd party/aftermarket wiring connected to the Suspension control unit. They are not willing to work any further on the car until said aftermarket wiring has been disconnected and removed from the control unit - there is a lumpy cost to this.
I am asking the dealer what has led them to the Control unit, i.e what are the fault codes as ultimately this is where you would start your diagnosis. They are telling me there are no fault codes stored on the car at all, either live or past. Which I find hard to believe when the car shows an error each time its started and my local MB found a fault code with his star machine when installing new discs before it went into MB. The code desc was something along the lines of "System compressed air distribution is leaky"
Can anybody shed any light on a couple areas for me please:
- What could this 3rd party/aftermarket wiring be on the Suspension control unit. The car has a Meta Trak S5 device - which is currently disabled and they say they wouldnt go anywhere near said control unit during installation.
- Have you had similar issues and what has been the cause/solution
Many thanks,
Russ
