Hi, looking for advice!

I have been told the flexi downpipe requires replacing due to heavy leaking. I am being quoted £1400 fitted by MBUK.

I am told its 2 hours labour. Is the part that expensive??

Thanks in advance

Did you not ask Mercedes for a cost breakdown?

Unsure why you would ask Mercedes to carry out tht5rrodir there are many Mercedes independent specialists around but it is also a relatively simple job that most garages could undertake.

Just had a quote for my local garage and Mercedes quoting them £1000 for the part

As stated, you do not need to buy it from Mercedes. It is a party that is available from other suppliers

I had this problem on a BMW X1. A custom exhaust specialist fixed it for £90. He told me he gets a lot of sub-contract work from BMW, Mercedes etc. main dealers.

I bought a universal one for my ALFA when it started to leak....it was a weld in one....but my welder had just died so I cut slots in the end and clamped it on with std exhaust clamps.......never did get around to welding it.....been like that four years now....total cost ?.....£15! They are not much more now. £1400.......that's a joke.
