Hi i seem to be making good progress in getting rid of the rattles in the w/s213

so thought id try to list them all here

first step in all of these is disconnect the battery as you will be disconnecting devices and switches so better to be safe

main tools you will need for these
10mm socket, T20 and t25 driver/bit

optional pics and prody things to aid disconnecting cables
trim tools

then the materials
pretty much everything can be done with
fabric loom tape TESA TAPE 51608 ADHESIVE CLOTH FABRIC WIRING LOOM HARNESS 25mm 19mm 9mm | eBay
felt pads that you use for furniture on hard floors Floor Protector Self-Adhesive Felt Sticky Pad Home Furniture Anti-Scratch Tape | eBay

but this stuff is great its a plasic lubricant that is designed for interior noises this one sticks to plastic but will stop noises against metal and leather as long as one side is plastic. its not like a grease it doesnt migrate you rub it on and let it dry and there you go

AC-F27 AC F27 – Newgate Simms

Open bonnet
remove this cover by turning the 2 plastic catched 90 degrees
IMG_20210720_171801.jpg

Remove the dust filter tab on each side press in and pull
IMG_20210720_171815.jpg

disconnect the negative terminal with 10mm socket then make sure it cant contact the negative terminal again
IMG_20210720_171906.jpg

Center console creaking

open armrest
IMG_20210720_171935.jpg

remove these 2 rubber bumpers they just pull out
IMG_20210720_171947.jpg

remove these 2 T20 screws
IMG_20210720_171959.jpg

Pry out the armrest release button
IMG_20210720_172130.jpg

remove these 2 T20 screws
IMG_20210720_172143.jpg

pull up un the center console
IMG_20210720_172223.jpg

its only held in by a few clips then slide it out from the dash untill you can start disconnecting the wires from the console
IMG_20210720_172246.jpg

disconnect the wite cable and the black one
IMG_20210720_172314.jpg

remove the green one from the front keyless entry receiver
IMG_20210720_172341.jpg

disconnect the 12v/cigarette lighter
IMG_20210720_172358.jpg

to completly remove it you also need to disconnect the connector for the hvac controls, the clock, the media controls and the abient lighting led's but to do this it isnt 100% needed

remove the 2 T20 screws holing on the cupholder/ashtray cubby
IMG_20210720_172459.jpg

this then comes away from the trim panel
IMG_20210720_172558.jpg

remove the silver trim by lifing these tabs
IMG_20210720_172648.jpg

IMG_20210720_172733.jpg

next you need to remove the lid covering the hidden part of the cubby i found it easier prying it up from the back

sorry no photo :(

then you need to either use fabric tape to cover the edges of the cubby box or some AC-F27 antifriction coating for plastic

Part 2
IMG_20210720_173405.jpg

just stick it anywhere 2 surfaces can touch and rub

maybe not 100% needed i then stuck tape everywhere anything may possibly rub

IMG_20210720_173542.jpg
IMG_20210720_173610.jpg

IMG_20210720_173536.jpg

you can also take the HVAC and media controls aprt and try and treat them but thats more hassle than is maybe needed this should get rid of the creaking when you rest you leg on the console anyway

door cards creaking on the door pull

you most likely have the door pull on the door card that creaks when you grip it this is annoying as it really does make it feel more like a fiat panda than a £40K+ car
this one is actually somewhat destructive so you will need some screws from mercedes

I have found these ones work A0009907006 55p each ive only done the rear doors so far but it seems you need 3 per door

this is work in progress at the moment

remove the door card held on with 2xT25 screws

pop the door card off using fingers or trim tools unhook the door lock popup thingy
disconnect the interior door opener pull green sheath back then disconnect the hook
disconnect the speakers and disconnect the 2 or 3 blue plugs from the door module

take it somewhere to work on

remove the noise reduction felt from the door card

remove the window switch by putting a tril tool in the gap at the front pulling for ward slightly then it just pulls up from the top

remove the 5 screws from the door card that secure the armrest to the door

cut off the 3 plastic welds holding the door rest of the door pull/armrest to the door

then the leather cover will come off

coat all the plastic edges with AC-F27 or tape let it dry if using AC-F27
IMG_20210807_145049.jpg

IMG_20210807_145057edit.jpg

pop the cover back on

and use the aditional purchased screws to secure where the plastic welds were this is how its supposed to be fixed
IMG_20210807_145041.jpg

i will update the picturs in more detail when i do the other doors

also creaking when you put your arm on top of door card, rattle in doors, rattle under rear seat, b pillar buzzing, hvac control unit in dash etc etc

if you have any others let me know and i will see what i can do

Front Door

thought i could edit my previous post but no

video of door after

remove the felt insulation

The trim piece is help on by 11 clips these are tricky to remove or atleast they were for me :(
best way i found is to wedge a flat blade screw driver between the 2 metal catches and then push down on the plastic retaining pin. they get easier once you get 1 or 2 and if you can wedge a trm tool in a gap to apply a little force it may help

once remove coat all the palstic that comes into contact with anyting with ac-f27 on the ddor card and on the trip piece you have removed i even removed the seat controls and took the trim pieces off those and treated them

Take it somewhere to work on it (it may take a while depending on how much you want to take it apart :) )

Release these clipa on both sides and the front this releases the trip ring. Coat all the edges with AC-F27
IMG_20210814_100000.jpgIMG_20210814_100224.jpg

Flip it over and remove all the screws
IMG_20210814_100342.jpgIMG_20210814_100349.jpg

split it apartand coat everything with AC-F27 where it contacts anything

IMG_20210814_100931.jpgIMG_20210814_102240.jpg

pop off the covers they just pull off again coat all the edges

IMG_20210814_102613.jpg
IMG_20210814_102622.jpg

Remove the sunroof switch if you have one and coat that

IMG_20210814_103018.jpg

basically just coat everything that may tough something :)

Awesome work. Well done. 👏👏👏👏

i keep realising i am not taking enough photos but im just focusing on getting them done. i hope it helps some people as onceit stops rattling its so much nicer !

i still cant find my most annoying rattle though :(

IMG_20210720_172223.jpg

disconnect the ambient lighting for the center armrest cubby the white plug just gentally pull the black led end off the light tube
IMG_20210814_130847.jpg

remove the carpet for the cubby
IMG_20210814_130457.jpg

IMG_20210814_130634.jpg

InkedIMG_20210814_130644_LI.jpg

then pusin these 2 tabs and lift up the top of the frame then start to pull toward the back of the car it will then come off
InkedIMG_20210814_130728_LI.jpg

apply AC-F27 again on all surfaces that will touch any plasick so masically slather it on anywhere that isnt visible :) the little cubby at the front of the arm rest just pushes off then you can do the edges on that aswell

Hello are you base in london can you do it for my car please i will pay for it

This is excellent and will keep a tab of this thread for when the noises get the better of me.

What an awesome project. I needed to do the centre console of my S205 when it was new. 8 years on no noise just by using self adhesive cable felt.
I had a horrid rattle from passenger B pillar. That the dealers could not fix as they would not accept my word that it was the seatbelt reel. After 3 visits they finally ordered a replacement seatbelt and all was fine. It seems that the ball that rolls to stop the belt feeding out in a quick stop was the problem. The service manage that finally got the job sorted said that they had not wanted to swap out the belt on a new car because it’s an expensive part and MB would not refund them if the original belt was not at fault and would not accept the part back into MB stock and they would be stuck with it!

Very poor that car of this age and perceived quality has any rattles all....especially when my 174,000 mile, allegedly rubbish and unreliable (if you believe what you read ) ALFA 159 is completely and utterly rattle & squeak free after nearly 15 years.....as is my wife's 2006 A Class.
