Hi :)

I have what sounds like an angry bull lodged in the passenger footwell - starts after 10-15mins driving, drowned out by the engine over 2,000RPM. Noise is intermittent but only in so far as every 10 seconds or so. No negative impact on steering or suspension and has been pretty constant for 1k miles - not getting any worse but happens every journey. From every forum I've looked at I'm 99% it's the pulsation damper that needs replacing.

I've taken it to three garages now. My local guy won't touch it (understandable - ABC is beyond the everyday). Visited 2 MB 'specialists' in Manchester. First one just plugged in the diagnostic and said nothing wrong and best to just 'live with it'. Second one had never heard of the damper, showed him the LI32.50-P-048280 TSB and he claims the W216 doesn't have a pulsation damper. I'm not a mechanic so didn't want to push it too far with him but I'm pretty sure it does...

TLDR Anybody recommend a MB specialist in the NW that might have done this before or actually seen a CL? Best car I've ever had but this is driving me insane to the point of getting rid. You guys are my last resort :)

Garage to avoid then.

In the absence of any others - take it to MSLP is Brum.

It's not worth getting rid of the car for.

Cheers John!

Bit of a trek but desperate times etc...I'll check them out. I don't want to get rid - it's been trouble free apart from this so far - just driving me insane getting hold of anybody competent to work on it. It appears to be a fairly straightforward procedure as plenty of forum users are doing it themselves.

Or Mercland , Nuneaton

Not sure I would want to take it on myself either. I'd rather pay someone who has done it before and knows what they are doing!

My PD went on my CL500 BE (which I must have imagined then as apparently they don't have them) but my car was under warranty with MB so they replaced the imaginary part under warranty.

Otherwise they are a great car and always felt like it was carved from granite in terms of quality.

It didn't suit me after the novelty wore off but that wasn't the fault of the car.
