Hi Guys

Got an engine light on my 2007 CL63. Car feels a bit hesitant and poor idle.

A diagnostics scan has come up with the fault: continuous camshaft adjustment LEFT. Incorrect position of the exhaust camshaft P0023.

Any ideas what to check first, sensor, camshaft adjuster? Just asking in case it was a common problem.
Thanks
Gav

Yes it does happen. I had one replaced on mine.

Thanks for the reply mate. Was it the same code and symptoms?
Rough idea of the cost?
I’m not sure whether there was a code - certainly no warning lamp. I could hear a slight tick so I took it to the dealer and asked them to strip and rebuild the top-end and replace whatever wasn’t spot on.

One can adjuster wasn’t quite right and one can love was showing signs of wear. The tappets are known to be problematic so whilst the engine was in pieces I had them replace the lot.

Not sure how much it would have cost for the cam adjuster alone but I seem to remember the part might have been around £500 but I’m not 100%. Labour cost would have been wrapped up as a total for the job.

Thanks, no noticeable ticking noise. Hopefully doesnt need a full top end rebuild!

To be fair I could have asked them to put it back together without having it all done but I wanted it to be spot on. It was expensive with a capital F though.
