Hi everyone!

Been looking around for my perfect CLS purchase but in the meantime been looking at Compare the Market for insurance quotes. They seem inline with what I was expecting but was wondering if there are any insider tips for AMG insurance/experience with specialist insurers! Also debating if a 2005 CLS would fall under "Classic Car" definitions :)

Top Tips
- get older
- move to a lower risk area
- dont get caught speeding
- dont have any claims or accidemts
- add a spouse or partner (unless they have a poor driving record)

Thank you!!!! Think the only thing that might help out is the adding someone with a good driving record!

My post was slightly tongue in cheek but without knowing your age or driving history, it is difficult to make suggestions.

A tracker/alarm, such as Ghost, may reduce premiums as might limiting mileage.

I doubt that a 2005 car will qualify for "classic insurance.

This link regarding classic insurance surprised me.

As you suggested, insurance is a postcode lottery. Two drivers with identical driving records and ages/occupation can have wildly varying premiums based on their location. Adding an experienced sometimes older driver with an unblemished record can help reduce the premium.

I would always recommend adding a partner regardless just to see.

I once added my other half not long after she had had a minor prang and my insurance on my car was still cheaper even though my record was clean...

Try Admiral. I got a decent rate from them recently.

I ended up with them too! Really reasonable quote for the insurance with the mods declared too!

Good to hear. they seem quite competitive at the moment. I added my home insurance onto my multicar policy and saved about £300 on the home insurance and all the cars got an extra 10% discount.

I should have done this! But have quite a good quote with Natwest on the home insurance and a few toys I keep inside! I’ll give it a thought come renewals!

NP - defo give them a try next time - promise, i'm not on commission with them!!

You can now get a 2005 cls55 on a limited mileage policy, like a modern classic. This is what i have done with mine as its not my everyday car. Brings cost down significantly.

Have you tried MoneySuperMarket? I am below £300 for my car, however, I note your are in the Manchester area so I would assume you will be slightly higher.
