Seeking advice

Is there a way to get an iphone5 to work with a 2006 cls 320cdi?

Also what phone originally came with it? , as mine has a cradle in the arm rest

Yes.

If you look at the cradle and you see a curly cable and you can take out the cradle and put it back, you need a MBU3000 device to enable Bluetooth

If it does not (which given age of car, I suspect is the case), then look in top left corner of the flat face of the cradle, there is a small button, press it in and slide whole cradle backwards, and it comes on.

You can then use either a Mercedes HFP adapter

or the cheaper Viseeo MB-4
