One or both of my Tail lights are leaking water into the boot. A replacement foam gasket is on back order through Mercedes. Is there a way of fixing the Gaskets or making a new pair? Cant find replacements anymore on the Internet?

Many thanks in advance.

PS. Cant replace SAM unit until boot dry!!

Could you ease the unit out slightly and use a clear flexible sealant from diy store. There’s some excellent sealants like clear seal used in fish tanks from the likes of B&Q etc

Use silicone to make a new seal. Have you checked that it is not the fixings for the bits of plastic either side around the boot opening. Mine leaked into the rear light and boot near the SAM. Fixed by removing them and using silicone around the fixings - you will see why they are a problem when you pull them out.

Did mine 5 years ago with silicone grease worked a treat for my tail lights.
^ Silicone grease is a much better proposition than silicone sealant, imo. Especially if you ever have to remove the light cluster again

Oddly enough, I've just found a small trace of water/condensation in the boot of my CLS. I've just ordered some grease to seal the lights and will look at the flaps mentioned above. Is it easy enough to take the lights out as I can't really recall the boot layout at the moment.

My drive has a slight uphill gradient with the front of the car nearest to the house. Is there anything else to check. Oh and apologies to oldmedic for invading his post but it seemed a bit pointless starting another one for maybe a similar thing.

To get the lights out remove centre section of boot trim (the black bit that goes across the back of the boot, including the lock striker. Small square press studs), then you can remove the trim either side around the lights.

The two trim pieces either side of the boot rim also caused problems on mine. The press-studs fit into little rubber boots that go through the body work. A couple of the little boots were split - solved with some black silicone. You do need to strip out the two trim panels to get to them but that is a good thing as you will find years of black gunge from rotted vegetation that washes down under them.
