There is a knock noise come from the passage rear side and mechanic advised it's a shock. Can I change only one shock. Which is making noise?

Shock absorbers should always be changed in pairs or the handling will be adversely effected 
However, when they get worn out they don't usually knock.
It could be worn bushes.
Recommend that you get a second opinion as to what exactly is causing the knocking.....

Thank you for your kind reply.
He said that when you push the car down, car should not bounced back. But my car did from rear, he said this is a sign of a faulty shocks.
