Hi,

I recently put a cassette in the player of the standard Audio 7 unit in my W220 S320, and its now stuck in.

The eject button doesnt do anything, and it doesnt play the cassette now even though its stuck in there.

All other audio functions work as normal.

Is there a way to remove the cassette? Does anyone have a how to or any advice please?

Thanks

I maybe wrong, do a search, but I think disconnecting the power to the changer and reconnecting may solve the problem. I seem to recolect this problem being reported in the past.

Its the cassete head unit. With the cassette slot where the command screen would be. And original post edited as its actually the Audio 10 system.

Any help appreciated.

"Cassette". I vaguely remember those.... I'll go Google it just to be sure...

Sounds likely that the tape has wound itself round a roller or cog, or it could be a drive belt has fallen off/snapped; is it electronic or mechanical ejection?

Whatever the reason, you're probably unlikely to retrieve it without taking the unit out, opening it up and having a look at the deck.

Its electronic ejection.

In the event that I do have to get the unit out, does anyone have a link to some useful info on how to remove the console?

Thanks

If I had it in front of me I could probably fix it in minutes but tape decks are something you need practice with to strip/rebuild in my experience, there's a lot of things you have to do the right way round or with the right little tool so if you do open the head unit, I wouldn't go mad. You should be able to release the deck from the unit fairly easily (3 or 4 screws - but some decks need desoldering too) to have a look for dropped/snapped drive belts.
