W220 Drivers seat has stuck in the horizontal position

Hi

My 03 W220 Drivers seat has stuck in the horizontal position, I put it back to clean it and thought it went back further than it should, now it only lifts up about an inch and then stops.

So the motor is ok, there is nothing caught in the gears,they turn about three full revolutions, when it stops you can hear the relay clicking.

It's as if it thinks it is in the upright position.

Well he did say he was cleaning it. No mention of what made it dirty.

I would disconnect power from the seat and then try again. The plug is under the seat.

can you get some arm and leg extenders and drive it from the back seat?

It didn't come up on star so I took it apart, it looked like the inertia on the seat back had locked, no way it was moving so had to take a spring, tab, etc out to manually get it in the upright position. I couldn't get the tab etc back in so it is locked in one position upright.
