2001 w220 320cdi
Hi All

now that I have finally sorted my hard start issue on my 2001 S320cdi I would like to move onto sorting the suspension issues the car has.

I intend to change the lower arms on the front suspension, the lower ball joints on the hub carrier that attach to the other arm and both track rod ends.

I see on ebay Mercedes Ball Joint Removal tools, like a large G clamp with attachments that remove and refit the ball joints.

Has anyone used these and are they any good? and can this be done with the hub carrier in situ?

Any tips

Thanks

Chris

Hi All,

I have managed to change the bottom balljoints, tension bar and track rod ends on my w220 front suspension.

I picked up the parts from ECP and bought a balljoint remover/fitter for the w220, the G clamp hand one, not the more expensive hydraulic one.

Stripping it down wasn't too hard though I found it necessary to split the top balljoint and remove the hub and hub carrier to make it easier to remove the old balljoint and refit the new.

assembly was straight forward and quick.

now i need to move onto the rear and change the rear control arms

regards

Chris
