Hello all,

I believe I have a gear selector issue with the Tiptronic function. Basically the function works but the selector needs to be press hard against the "-" side trim before the sensor picks up.

The "+" side works about half way between the central position and the "+" side trim and selector feels like any other Tip shifts in other Mercedes.

My question is whether there is a way to adjust the "-" sensor so it works similar to the "+" side.

Thank you very much for your help in advance.

Kind regards,
Garrison

my w220 was the same, but i may of caused it myself by accidently knocking the gear lever very hard, i did strip the unit out and dismantled it, it looked like a tiny microswitch but because it never affected the actual gear changes i left it alone, not too sure if the switch is replaceable and a whole new unit price beggars belief:eek:   after all it did still work in tiptronic just it needed a firmer tap to change gear.Do you really use it that often to justify the cost?

Yes I use the Tip quite often - mostly on country roads.

I also use the Tip function when I am on demonstration drive when training my IAM Associates, a must on country roads.

How did you strip the selector to adjust the micro-switch?

you have to remove the ashtray the gear nob the gear surround and the centre console, be carefull with the centre console it's easy to trap and cut the wiring loom from the selector, it is in the top left hand front corner when sat in the drivers seat, then unbolt the selector unit from the floor and raise it so you can see the selector rod from the gearbox, disconnect that and pull the selector upwards and disconnect the loom at the front, with the selector clear of the car using torx sockets undo the screws on the base of the selector (6 i think) and the top comes off revealing all the workings inside, you will see the switches when you look inside. Not as daunting as it sounds, i did mine stuck in the ferry door in holly head to free a siezed lever much to the amusement of the other passengers :D :D takes less than 30 minutes.
