W220 S500 De-cat advice

Got the car back today and all is well, the existing secondary cats were removed as they were tough wee buggers to open.

Runs nice and no rattling.

does it feel more powerful?

and is the sound better?

pics?

No pics I'm afraid although I got the opportunity to see my removed cats. One was rattling like a bag of spanners.

Car certainly feels a wee bit quicker but that could just be heavier shoes and the fact I was using the Golf today.

Deeper note from the rear but not an AMG 'growl'. I'll try the 'head turn barometer' in due course ...

Quick update.

Car accelerates faster and is definitely more responsive to the throttle.

It's also showing to be a bit more frugal when the need arises. Clipped 30mpg tonight for the first time in ages.

All good IMO

which type of de-cat pipe??

apologies to bump an old thread but i'm considering de-cat-ing my S500 to get a nicer exhaust note (hopefully bit more like a CLK55 gurgle) and am wondering what the difference is between straight, H and X pipes? Whats best and what different effects they give?
Also i see increased MPG and power is mentioned, I expected bit more power but is it true it may improve the MPG??

Thanks
Mark

Had that done on my car and it sounds horrendous.

Definitely would not recommend.

Do you mean your E200?

To be fair that's a little 4 pot, not a big N/A V8. Or is it a different car?
