Hi,
After changing my Battery the SRS light is on.
Can it only be turned off with the ODBII tool or if I disconnect the battery over night could that reset things?

I know there is no fault as was fine before the Battery change.

Thanks

Rossy (Bolton Manchester)

But this only happened after I changed the battery, will give it a go but if its dirt it would have been there before I changed the battery?

Thanks

Ok, here is a list of all my problems...

1, Engine Check light does not light up at all (There are no errors though)
2, ESP does not work (Yellow triangle does come on then off when engine started) But can not get it to come on with buttom.
3, SRS Light on all the time (flickers off rarely, sometimes)
4, Rear headrests go down with switch but not up (the switch is two way so they should do both)

SRS was on, then off once engine started when I bought the car so should be no faults unless changing the battery I "sparked" and fryed something?

All other faults I guess where already there...but can not be 1000% sure.
Silly I know but can not remember if the engine check light ever came on!

I have disconnected the battery for over night and have the info on resetting things.
I'll give that a go and see what happens.

Thanks for all your help...fingers x'd!

I would suggest getting it pt on a star machine and the codes read for the srs light it may just be that the srs control unit has seen a drop in voltage where you have changed the battery causing the light to come on when you reconnected it.

As for the check engine light that is a different story it could have been coded out as there is a problem with the engine but once again would need to go on a star machine for this to be checked as well. What area are you in as someone might be able to suggest a good independant to do this for you

I know there are no engine check faults as its been on a Snap On diag machine.
I'm in Bolton and know of an Independant in Radcliffe.
Just about to re connect the Battery...and would guess the bulbs out on the engine check...not to sure of the others..

I have worked on mercedes cars for the last eight years and have never known of a check engine light not to work unless it has been coded out for some reason.

Have you had the car put on the snap on mcahin since the srs light has been on to read the fault code

Yes, it said somthing about "restraint" and would not clear...but like I keep saying, the SRS light has only come on since the battery change.
Leaving the battery off over night did nothing!

How would the engine check light be "ocoded out" and if it has can it be "coded back in"?
